Renowned for its dynamism and vibrancy, Nantes is both steeped in history and yet resolutely innovative and forward-looking. With a solid tradition in the industrial, maritime and food processing sectors, modern-day Nantes is also home to a large number of business and research centres involved in digital technologies, robotics, aeronautical engineering, shipbuilding and renewable marine energies. It is the second most successful city in France in terms of employment growth and the leading economic hub in western France.

The city boasts a rich architectural heritage, including the Gothic cathedral, the majestic medieval/Renaissance chateau and the striking art-déco shopping arcade, Passage Pommeraye. One of the city’s most unusual attractions is the Ile des machines where converted shipyards have been transformed into the home of futuristic giant machines!
